Mr and Mrs Freebery were amazing people to work with! I started looking for a home in 2022 and didn’t have any luck. Worked with multiple realtors and it would never work out, recently in march of 2025 we met with the Freebery’s and from the start I knew that they would find a home for me and my family and that’s exactly how it went, first house they showed us was the last because we had a closed deal with the house and my wait was finally over. They made everything look so easy! Karen is amazing. She and Steve took care of us from afar, as we were moving from out of state and only had limited opportunities to be in person. The market was definitely tough post-COVID, but we weren't in a rush, and the Freeberys were nothing other than supportive. We never felt pressured to make an offer on anything we saw but didn't love. Between Karen and Steve, no message or email went more than a few minutes to a couple hours (with responses even overnight) without at least an initial reply. Any questions we had were thoroughly answered. When it came time to consider putting in offers, we weren't pushed to go out of our comfort zone, and when we did think about going beyond it, we were gently reminded that there were different options and possibilities to get what we wanted. And we did! Karen's knowledge of the area is impressive, as well as their network of friendly, helpful, and well-informed professionals. We managed to coordinate inspections and post-closing fixes in a very short turnaround. Truly, we are so appreciative of the referrals that got us to Karen and Steve, and are happy to send anyone we know their direction for buying or selling a home in the DE/PA area.

Steve and Karen are terrific. They responded quickly to emails, texts, and voice messages (even when they vacationed). They did a great job pricing and advertising our house. We especially appreciate their roster of helpers (handymen, contractors, and other skilled experts) which let us quickly replace one carpet. And after our first purchase in 2010, we could always email them with questions--they don't disappear after settlement!

We worked with Steve and Karen to sell a Trolley Square property that we'd owned for many years, but now needed to sell while living out of state. It was a fantastic experience! Steve and Karen showed deep knowledge of the local market, and helped arrange contractors to repair and prepare the property for sale/ They stayed engaged as the work progressed, which was a huge help for us given the distance involved. The contractors they arranged were top notch, and got the place looking its best as we prepared to go to market. The property got a lot of interest, and a great price point for us, and sold and easily without any hassle and not a lot of haggle. Steve and Karen continued to keep things smooth and orderly as we went through the sales process, and quickly chased down a problem when there was a post-sale error by one of the attorneys! Communication was clear and straightforward, which we had found to be a rarity in the Wilmington area real estate market in the last several years. Our intention was to speak to several agents and then make a decision on who we should ultimately go with. But after our initial conversations with Steve and Karen, we felt so comfortable that we didn't bother contacting anyone else. Steve and Karen are professional, knowledgeable, and very personable. We have worked with Karen and Steve both as buyers and as sellers, and they were wonderful in both situations. They are knowledgable, practical, detail oriented, caring, responsive, trustworthy, and dedicated. In our 15 month search — yes, 15 months! — for our next home, Karen and Steve Freebery spent countless hours working with us to find the home we were looking for. Buying or selling a home is not easy. You need an experienced, knowledgeable, hard-working realtor to assist you in the process. We found MANY agents online but very few that stood out like the Freebery team. In reading the online reviews, everyone mentioned how Steve and Karen are professional, extremely knowledgeable, personable and available any time you need them. We initially spoke with them on the phone, then met with them at our home. They came prepared with data on how many homes they sell per year, how long their homes were on the market before they sold, comparable homes in our neighborhood, their marketing strategy and copies of all their achievements and awards. I want to thank Team Freebery for helping my grandfather sell the family home after 51 years of loving family memories. As you can imagine, a 90 year old client isn’t your typical client. I was a first time home buyer with absolutely no experience and no idea what to expect. I was referred to Steve and Karen Freebery through my lender. I was always told that buying a house was a lesson in stress but Steve and Karen made the entire process as easy and stress free as reasonably possible. They are very responsive and offered thorough and complete answers to all of my questions about starting to look for a home. My mom passed away and I found myself with a house and adjacent vacant lot to sell in the Newark, Delaware area. I was born and raised in New Castle County, but I moved to warmer climates many years ago and my contacts in real estate sales were too stale to work with. I did a bunch of research into realtors in the area and came up with a short list that included Steve and Karen Freebery. I decided to start interviewing those that made the short list to find one who I felt comfortable working with. Shortly into the interview with Steve Freebery, I started to have very good feelings about their team. They both seemed very knowledgeable and honest which was really what I needed. Their sales volume assured me that they were capable of selling my house and property for me, and their open, relaxed yet businesslike approach helped me choose them over the others. The house that we were selling was unique and specifically built for my mom. What we all knew this would mean is that it would take some time to find the right match of buyer with the vision needed to appreciate this high quality yet uniquely designed home. We just closed on the sale of the vacant property (the house sold first) so we are done. There were a number of challenges that had to be overcome to get here, but the Freebery’s were there every step of the way to support the process. My overall experience with the Freebery’s was very, very good. The real estate advice I received was timely and on point. When work was needed on the house, Steve recommended quality contractors that did good work, on a timely schedule at fair prices. I grew up in a contracting business household and worked in and around the trades for years while in Delaware so I have some background to make that judgement. We never had an issue with the quality of the work and the prices were in line with what is reasonable and appropriate for the trades in and around Newark. I can’t tell you how much this helped the process of selling the house when I lived 1000 miles away. Communication with them was always very good with text responses typically in minutes and the longest being just a couple of hours. There were times when the response I got was from them when they were on vacation, although I would not have been able to tell from the response time. By the end of the process I felt more like I was dealing with an old friend. So after this most pleasant experience, I would highly recommend Team Freebery to anyone looking for an honest and highly knowledgeable Real Estate team, to friends or family. Karen is amazing (I realize a lot of people say that, but it is because it is true). She and Steve took care of us from afar, as we were moving from out of state and only had limited opportunities to be in person.
The market was definitely tough post-COVID, but we weren't in a rush, and the Freeberys were completely supportive. We never felt pressured to make an offer on anything we saw but didn't love. Karen was even more critical than we were on some of the places we saw (not in a bad way, but just made sure to point out things we might not have seen or realized may be issues, or didn't align with what we were looking for).
Between Karen and Steve, no message or email went more than a few minutes to a couple hours (with responses even overnight) without at least an initial reply. Any questions we had were thoroughly answered.
When it came time to consider putting in offers, we weren't pushed to go out of our comfort zone, and when we did think about going beyond it, we were gently reminded that there were different options and possibilities to get what we wanted. And we did!
Karen's knowledge of the area is impressive, as well as their network of friendly, helpful, and well-informed professionals. We managed to coordinate inspections and post-closing fixes in a very short turnaround.
